Autumn Updates and future plans

It’s been a busy couple of months at the hall as we move forward in improving the facilities. Thanks to funding from the Tamar Valley AONB we have recently installed a baby changing unit that is accessible to everyone as well as two solar powered lights to increase visibility at the main entrances as the nights draw in.  We have further improvements to the toilet facilities happening right now as well a major revamp planned for the future.  A second project has allowed us to install fibre-optic wifi allowing you to access the internet when attending any event. This will also allow us to host new activities that rely on internet use such as cloud based training, e-learning, social talks(TED talks) or even DJ’s.

You have probably all seen how beautiful the poppy display on the front of the building and the management committee is proud to help the community in remembering those who sacrificed so much.

There are still many other projects in the pipeline to help the future of the hall, including replacing the damaged windows, opening up the old ones, installing new gas heating and renovating the lower hall. These are large projects that require substantial funding. We are currently in the process of identifying and completing funding options. This is something you as people interested in the future of the hall can help with. Any testimonies that you can provide that support the work that has happened so far and the current use of the hall will help to prove that the hall is worthy of investment.

We have applied to Tesco bags of help for funding to provide new seats that will allow us to hold activities like theatre and cinema evenings.  Keep your eyes peeled but if and when we get put forward, every blue token you put towards the hall will increase our chances.

In the mean time we are planning at the end of winter/start of summer to remove the current flooring in the upstairs and restore the old wooden floor boards. Not only will this improve the look of the hall, it will allow a wider ranger of activities or larger numbers for the ones already taking place.

After the success of last years Christmas open cafe, we will once again opening the hall for a time to give the community an opportunity to reach out to those who may be alone.  Please keep your eyes open for further details and think about whether you are or know someone who will benefit from meeting up with others, or maybe you can help in some small way.

Thank you for taking an interest in the hall.
